So it seems that, if we need to survive this latest effort for species suicide, then there must be way to pit the two death mongering parties against each other, lest we end humanity in a few short years. One would think that with all the counter intelligence propaganda floating through the media; someone might have accidentally leaked some vital "intel" that would cause competing defense companies to begin an assassination campaign against each other. Maybe the campaign has gotten under way and we're seeing the effects with the stock markets turning into a furbar free-for-all.
Given the gravity of current events becoming more and more like an Orwellian wet dream, then it is safe to deduce that some form of worldwide rebellion will begin to destroy local governments and leaders will get to witness the rebirth of the guillotine, by reclaiming the wealth from the few.
